LED Grow Lights
4Season Grow Lights are proudly New Zealand owned & operated and work with the best agricultural institutions with only one goal; to use that knowledge in order to have the latest and greatest grow light technology readily available for all commercial and domestic growers.
Implementing best practices alongside your 4Season LED Grow light will help you understand the light process and to use it in your daily plant life for your plants’ benefit.

Agriculture Lighting
Let us take a step back to a simpler time, back in the 1950s & 60s the horticulture world was rocked by the introduction of the metal halide and the high-pressured sodium technology, game-changing for the time, these two power house bulb were highly regarded due to their energy efficiency & tailored spectrum which were a hit for the indoor grower.
LEDs (light-emitting diode) were invented in the 1960s and have been furtheroptimized and developed ever since, now as we enter in to 2020 we see more thanever the true innovation that is shining through this amazing technology and wefind ourselves having tipped over the edge of the pivotal war between HPS & thefast advancing LED.
HPS or LED Grow Lights?

HPS Lighting
When it comes to this kind of light, the flower cultures’ development is in a tight connection with the canopy temperature and depth (18-24”). But it usually results in topheavy flower results.

LED Lighting
With LED Grow Lights, this floral morphology is less “top heavy”, as flowers develop more evenly across the vertical crop profile, creating the opportunity for greater total yield.
Characteristics
This is measured by using PPFD (Photosynthesis Photon Flux Density) and DLI (Daily light Integral).
Intensity
-
PPFD
Used in order to see how much light the plant needs and receives anytime. It’s ostly used for indoor planting and is measured by micromoles per square meter per second μmol·m-2·s-1.
-
DLI
An important variable to measure in every greenhouse because it influences plant growth, development, yield, and quality. Much like a rain basin, where PPFD would be individual drops, DLI is a daily measurement of the number of photons received in a grow area that can be utilized for photosynthesis. DLI is calculated by looking at total PPFD over a 24-hour period, and is measured in mol-m-2 -d-1.
Power Calculator

Photoperiod
This is measured by the amount of time a plant receives light for in a day. They can measure the light period and the dark period and this cycle is also known as photoperiodism. Photoperiod manipulation is commonly used to steer plants from vegetative to reproductive growth.

Spectrum
4Season lighting solutions are designed to effectively support photosynthesis while offering specific spectral ratios to direct plant growth and promote healthy plant development. 4Season LEDs are engineered for both indoor (sole-source) and greenhouse cultivation, directing light within the Photosynthetically Active Radiation region, which refers to the light utilized by plants for photosynthesis.
For indoor cultivation, 4Season has developed proprietary phosphor coating toachieve white light @ 3500k (Following the McCree Photosynthesis Curve andreplicating natural sunlight) our spectrum supports plant metabolic processes, while focusing light within red and blue PAR bands to drive photosynthesis.4Season lighting strategies are also built to significantly reduce energyconsumption and associated electrical infrastructure costs.
Requiremets
You should experiment once in a while because no two plants are the samein order to find the best conditions for them

How to Set Up Your New LED Grow Light

Your LED will come with a power cord and hangers, the quick guide below will helpyou easily and safely set your LED up in your Grow Tent.
-
Attention to detail is important during this stage so please take it slow andtreat the equipment with respect.
-
You’re gonna want to attach the hangers to your tent first, easiest way to dothis is to loop them around the roof pole as shown in the picture
-
Once you have completed the previous step give the hangers a tug to ensure they are securely installed before you connect up your LED.
-
Be careful when clipping the hangers to your LED, they weigh a bit and yourtoes will not forgive you if one goes tumbling down towards them.
-
Now your LED is securely set up in your tent, if you have the adjustable hangers then you can now adjust your LED to approx 40cm above the top of your plants.
-
Use the tips and suggestions in the guide below to help with the overall running of your LED, however, as a quick set up note for Vegetative Growthyou will want to run your LED 40 cm above your plant on half power for the18hour cycle, moving across to your 12/12 flowering cycle you will just needto increase the intensity to full power over the span of 2 - 3 days to allowyour plants to adjust accordingly.
-
Remember all plants are different, so keep an eye on them to ensure they are reacting well to the amount of light they are receiving, the guide below will help.
